Beer pong: How many cups do I need?
How long is the table? A quick guide:
  • 2 or more people (usually playing 1v1 or 2v2)
  • A table (beer pong tables with the official dimensions of 240 x 70 cm are best)
  • Table tennis balls (ideally 2 per player)
  • 10 cups (width at top: 9.5 cm/height: 12 cm/width at bottom: 6 cm)
  • Water or of course beer!
At the start of the game, the 10 cups are placed on opposite sides at each end of the table in the shape of a 4-3-2-1 pyramid, with the tip pointing towards the opposing team. There are also variants with 6 or fewer cups. Each team is allowed 2 throws per round; with two players, this means one throw per player. if a team makes both shots during their turn, there is an additional third throw, known as a rollback. A ball can be thrown directly at the cup or indirectly by bouncing on the table. Each time a ball lands in one of the opponent's cups, the cup that was hit is removed. If there are only 6 or 3 cups left, the remaining cups are arranged in a pyramid shape again, with the last cup being placed in the middle. The game continues until one team has no more cups and the other team wins. When played with friends at home, there are countless house rules and variations.
